its wet out there….

wet sept 1

Its September 1st. This morning in bright sunshine I drove to Heathrow to pick up my two teenage children who have been spending the holidays with their mother in Panama. Now we are home and torrential rain is keeping us indoors. From summer to autumn, from sole occupant to single dad family, all in one day…

We are all in shock, really. They are understandably a little fried. Their cousin met us all at the airport and has come to stay for 10 days. So everyone is excited. I have spent six weeks on my own slipping easily back into my solitary vigil. Now the house is jumping!  The TV is blaring, someone’s playing the piano, the dog is running up and down the stairs, and there goes the phone!

They had 15 hours of airline action at the end of which it transpired that one of their bags had stayed behind. BA have promised to deliver it to our door tomorrow. Why am I sceptical?

I think it is time to make a big supper and plonk them in front of a movie during which they will most likely pass out.
